Japanese Guns: Painting!

As the assembly post, this one will describe how to paint the Type 41 75mm Regimental Gun, but the same instructions can be followed to paint the Type 92 70mm Battalion Gun and the Type 94 37mm Rapid-fire Gun. The exact color palette can be found here.

First step is to prime the gun in Black.

Gun primed with black spry.

Next is to base coat all the gun body with a mixture of Japanese Uniform darkened with Black.

Base color is darkened Japanese uniform, as with the infantry.

Then paint the wheels´ rim with Dark Gunmetal. For the Type 41, I also painted with Dark Gunmetal some parts of the body. I then painted with Army Green  the round small part next to the cannon.

Paint the body structure with a second layer of Japanese Uniform mixed with Dark Gunmetal, to get a metallic look. Then highlight the Dark Gunmetal with Oily Steel. Paint some details with Hammered Copper and then light dry brush some parts with Hammered Copper to give the gun a rusty look.

Then repaint the in Black, and finally, apply a dry brush coat of Dry Dust to give the gun a dirty from the field look.

For painting the gun crew, observers and command team I followed my infantry painting guideline
