The beginning of the journey!

About a year ago, I decided to start a Flames of War army. After doing a little bit of research about the different countries and periods available, I was quickly drawn to the Japanese. Having enjoyed films such as Letters from Iwo Jima, shows as The Pacific and games as Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, the Japanese had always roused my interest.

Hohei Chutai (infantry company) with banner, HMG and Type 41 regimental gun.

Add their fighting doctrine as fearless soldiers who will attack in a suicide charge rather than surrender, and relying more on their human capabilities than in their technology, far less developed than the Americans or the British.

Another practical factor taken into account was that at that time, the Japanese were only represented in one Flames of War book: Rising Sun, reducing extra decisions to take.

Five Type 95 Ha-Go tanks lead by a Type 97 Chi-Ha.

In this blog I will show and describe how I assembled and painted my army, so maybe others out there can get some ideas or inspiration for their painting and basing.

Banzai!
